Santos
required a pipeline to transport coal seam methane gas from the Fairview/Comet Ridge field to the gas hub at Wallumbilla on the Roma – Brisbane Trunk line.

The pipeline was 127km long and consisted of 350mmdiameter X70 steel pipe. The scope included early contractor involvement in the design, transport of the pipes from Wollongong , traditional welded steel pipeline construction, concurrent fibre optic cable installation, hydrotesting and commissioning.

This pipeline project included construction of end facilities at Fairview and Wallumbilla and mainline valves in route. The pipeline scaled major escarpments and included crossings of rail and highways plus the installation of gates in 1,500 fences. Diversified purchased and established its own 120-man camp at Injune for the project. The construction schedule was very tight and the 127km pipeline and mechanical facilities were completed over a 5-month period.
