Innamincka Petroleum is developing the Flax Oil Field to the North East of the Moomba Processing Plant in the Cooper Basin and to date have drilled five oil wells, known as Flax 1 to 5. Diversified Construction is contracted to connect the oil wells to the separator plant and the tank farm. The gathering lines are made from DN60mm steel pipe, laid above ground for environmental reasons. At the central tank farm the gathering lines are connected to a separator unit and then to holding tanks.
The second stage in the project involves pipe construction to allow water re-injection back into the oil wells. Development of the field is progressing with more wells planned. The area is situated in a National Park and the environmental restrictions are rigorous. Disturbance of the soil must be kept to a minimum, hence no trenching is allowed and all pipework is laid above ground. No clearance of the land is allowed and traffic movement must be kept minimal within specified limits. DCC works to a strict Environmental Management Plan in accordance with one of its Company Objectives of ‘minimising harm to the environment’. DCC have a crew of 10 personnel headed by the Site Manager, Niall Callan and have maintained a 100% safety record with no incidents. |
